The Panama Beach City Council’s choice for its next City Clerk has decided not to take the job. Ruth Bocchino, the current City Clerk for the city of Gladstone Missouri, informed the City of Panama City Beach on Wednesday morning of her choice after having being awarded the position by the Council at its last regular meeting on July 9th.

The City will now negotiate with the second place applicant Lynne Fasone, the current City Clerk for the city of Hilliard, Ohio. She has been the City Clerk for 15 years. Ms. Fasone is a Certified Municipal Clerk which she earned in 2014. During her presentation before the City Council, Ms. Fasone said one of her proudest accomplishments was taking the City of Hilliard from “paper to paperless” by implementing a cloud based agenda management system. She also touted her understanding of the “Sunshine Laws” and her love for the community. Lynne placed second in the rankings by the City of Panama City Beach City Council on July 9th. Staff will now negotiate salary and a hiring package with Ms Fasone.
