Chairman Griffitts- Short term rental application being made to the Governor

In a phone interview Friday with Panhandle Politics Bay County Commission Chairman Philip “Griff” Griffitts said that he would be putting in an application for re-opening short term rentals to Governor DeSantis’ office as quickly as possible. “I have already been in contact with the City of Panama City Beach and the TDC, together we will submit a plan to the Governor as soon as possible.” He continued, “Our community has worked very hard to keep our (COVID-19) numbers low, I trust that our rental owners can follow guidelines for proper cleaning between visitors”. In Florida, hotels and motels have been open during the COVID-19 virus shutdown as essential businesses. As the season draws closer these businesses have been packed, as short-term rentals have not been allowed to re-open. Griffitts said that he would like to see short term rentals open before the up-coming Memorial Day weekend.
